Spring Break Vacation Ideas for Families: A Snowmass Ski Vacation

Activities, Ski Snowmass, Snowmass Events | 0 Comments

Snowmass is a top destination for families during spring break. Why? Because there are fun activities for every family member―morning, noon, and night. Snowmass Mountain has ski runs for every level of skier; families can ride a snowcat to a rustic cabin for sing-along dinners; Ullr Nights offers everything from snow tubing to a fire show; then, there’s Very Important Kid (VIK) Snowmass, which treats kids like VIPs with fun, daily activities.

Discover what a family spring break vacation in Snowmass can be. Check out a sample family ski vacation itinerary below.

Day 1

Afternoon ― Arrive at your Snowmass vacation rental. It’s time to relax. Take a load off in front of the wood burning fireplace with hot toddies and hot cocoa.

Evening ― Casual dinner and bowling at Slopeside Lanes.

Day 2

Morning ― Whip up a hearty breakfast in the fully-stocked kitchen. You sent us your grocery list, so we made sure that the kitchen was ready upon your arrival. After breakfast, easily ski to the base (it’s easy when you stay ski-in / ski-out). You decide to start your ski vacation by taking a lesson. The adults are taking a private lesson, and the kids are headed off to Ski and Snowboard School.

Afternoon ― Lunch at Gwyn’s High Alpine. Then, wrap up the day with your instructors, and it’s time for après-ski. The kids check out the Very Important Kid (VIK) Snowmass activity of the day, and the adults après at The Artisan.

Evening ― Snowcat dinner at Lynn Britt Cabin. The kids will love the sing-alongs and mini grilled cheese.

Day 3

Morning ― Private ski lesson for the kids at Buttermilk Mountain. Adults take a cross country ski lesson at the Snowmass Cross Country Center.

Afternoon ― Meet the kids for lunch at Cliffhouse Restaurant at the top of Buttermilk Mountain. Ski a few runs together. Then, return to your Snowmass vacation rental for a well-earned siesta.

Evening ― Dinner at Eight K. Then, catch a performance at the Wheeler Opera House.

Day 4

Morning ― Family ski day on Snowmass Mountain.

Afternoon ― Don’t miss Lynn Britt Cabin Après (#LBCAprès). It’s a spring break party, alpine style.

Evening ― Ullr Nights on Snowmass Mountain offers something to do for everyone. Parents can enjoy live music, cocktails, and conversation at Elk Camp Restaurant, while the kids explore all of the outdoor activities, including tubing, ice skating, snow biking, s’mores making, and snowshoeing. Afterwards, head back to your vacation home rental for a soak in the hot tub under the stars.

Day 5

Morning ― Yoga in Aspen. Visit the Aspen Art Museum with the family.

Afternoon ― Snowshoeing on Snowmass Mountain with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). After, kids head to Anderson Ranch for Art Après, and the adults enjoy massage treatments at a Snowmass spa.

Evening ― Dinner at The Edge Restaurant. Then, head into Aspen for a show at the Belly Up.

Day 6

Morning ― Snowmobile to the Maroon Bells. Then, enjoy a few runs on Aspen Highlands Mountain.

Afternoon ― Lunch at Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro. Shopping in downtown Aspen.

Evening ― Après-ski at Ajax Tavern, and dinner at Cache Cache.

Day 7
